The 9th Seat Leadership Camps
Camp Website: http://www.9thseat.com/summer-camps/
Location: Conibear Shellhouse

Coxswain Leadership Camp: Week 1
July 6th-10th
Co-ed High School Coxswains, ages 13-19

Coxswain Leadership Camp: Week 2
July 20th-24th
Co-ed High School Coxswains, ages 13-19

What Coxswains Can Expect:
  • Listen to and share race tapes with fellow coxswains
  • Be athletic and competitive
  • Learn to communicate better
  • Learn to row
  • Master the art of docking
  • Steering: How to take turns and maneuverability
  • Better situational awareness
  • Be a better leader and teammate
  • College recruiting advice from the Rower’s Edge
Come prepared to learn outside of the coxswain seat.  There are many skills to practice that will better prepare you to make the best decisions while on the water. It is my belief that the best coxswains are the ones who want to be known as a teammate first, an athlete second and a coxswain third.  There are nine seats in an 8+ that combine into one in order to make that boat as fast as it can be.  This camp will help you be that 9th seat who makes a difference in boat speed.

Rowing Leadership Camp
July 27th-31st
High school women only

What Rowers Can Expect:
  • Being exposed to different technical focuses
  • Handling college level land workouts
  • Learning a new psychology of racing
  • Be a better leader and teammate
  • College recruiting advice from the Rower’s Edge

Three boats across competitive action will be the best memories from this camp.  26 rowers and five coxswains will have the chance to train their minds and bodies to become better athletes, teammates, and leaders.
